The project was inspired by a separate assignment, and Galton says, “Normally for a job, we photograph the surface of food, occasionally taking a bite or a piece out, but rarely the cross section of a finished dish. Beth Galton is a photo-based artist, with an educational background in the natural sciences and 30 years of experience as a professional photographer in the editorial and commercial world. Galton worked in collaboration with food stylist Charlotte Omns, who used handy tricks like putting gelatin in the liquids to solidify them before cutting them in half.
